New construction homes under the IRC 2015 and IRC 2018 codes require a blower door test. The test procedure includes a certified BPI tester to come and setup a blower door. The house is then sealed (windows and doors closed) and depressurized. Under 2018 IRC the goal is to come at or under 3 ACH50. This means that the building exchanges all its inside air with outside air 3 times per hour at a test pressure of 50 pascals.
We offer blower door testing on new homes. Our standard fee is $300 pass or fail. This includes coming to the home to test it and submitting a certificate. It does not include finding and fixing air leakage areas.
